Dropbox - Error: too_many_write_operations

When backing up to a Dropbox destination, the following error may be returned resulting in a failed or partially completed backup:

[ERROR] Failed uploading file '#########'. Error: Failed uploading file "#########" to "#########". Error: too_many_write_operations/..

Due to the technical limitations of Dropbox, you can encounter this error if there are multiple changes at the same time in the same account or shared folder.

To resolve this error, please adjust the following settings to the recommended values:

In Settings >> Performance:

  • Concurrent Restore/Download/Reindex Tasks to 1-2

  • Concurrent Backup/Clone Tasks to 1-2

In Destinations >> [Select the Destination] >> Manage Destination:

  • Maximum Concurrent Threads to 20-30
