JetBackup 5 Fails to Start with free(): invalid next size (fast)

We've received reports of "Invalid next size" errors on v5.3.13 EDGE/ALPHA due to a recent package update. A bug in the jetphp81-jetentities package caused a fatal error in some types of environments.

Environment:

  • JetBackup 5 = v5.3.13 (ALPHA/EDGE)
  • jetphp81-jetentities-8.1.29.1-101.x86_64

This may cause any of the following errors:

jetbackupd[1184773]: free(): invalid next size (fast)

[root@jetapps ~]# jetbackup5api -F panelPreload
free(): invalid next size (fast)

Failed loading panel preload information. Error: API call failed with response code 500

Our Development Team has released an updated version of this package jetphp81-jetentities-8.1.29.3 to resolve the issue causing free(): invalid next size (fast) errors.

To update any other affected servers, please use the below command:

yum update jetphp81-jetentities --disablerepo=* --enablerepo=jetapps-alpha && sleep 2 && service jetbackup5d restart

If you still encounter problems after updating the package, please open a support ticket so our team can assist you further.
