JetBackup for WordPress Showcase in JB5 - Integration FAQ

After upgrading to JetBackup v5.3.17 or above, you may notice a new Feature Showcase for JetBackup for WordPress integration and deployment. The options within the Showcase control whether the JetBackup WordPress plugin is installed and enabled for new or existing WordPress sites. JetBackup WP offers easy to use backup and restore functionality designed with WordPress end users in mind, and features the new ability to restore JetBackup 5 backups from the WP Admin interface for FREE. For more information, visit https://www.jetbackup.com/jetbackup-for-wordpress/ If you're a partner, you can also enable automatic Pro licensing for each installation using your partner token.

There's a lot of interest and questions regarding this showcase, so we've included the most common questions below.

Am I limited on the number of WordPress sites JetBackup WordPress can be installed on using this feature?

Nope! The Free version will be securely installed from the WordPress Marketplace on domains installed using WP-Toolkit, Softaculous, or other vendors, such as WordPress Manager in DirectAdmin.

Our official JetBackup Partners can enter a Partner Token which will generate a single-domain JBWP Pro License key for each installation automatically.

How do I bypass the Feature Showcase screen without enabling any options?

To acknowledge the showcase and not save any setting related to it, please run the following command via SSH as ROOT:

Acknowledge Showcase Only - Don't enable
jetbackup5api -F approveShowcase -D '_id=115_wordpressIntegration'

I don’t want to auto-install on new installations. How can I provide clients with the option to install JetBackup WP during the installation process from WP Toolkit?

Yes, you can disable both the "New Installation Hooks" and "Mass Deploy" feature (which is already disabled by default), then add it to a "Set" in WP-Toolkit as "root".

This can be added from "WP Toolkit (as root) > Sets > Find the set you want to add JBWP to and click "Add Plugin". Then, click "Add Plugin" and search from the WordPress Marketplace to select "JetBackup WP". Once added to the set, if the end-user installs WordPress via WP-Toolkit, the post-install prompt to add Plugins will show the list of available "Sets", like "WordPress Essentials" in a list. The user can then choose to install the Extension Set with JetBackup WP, or skip it for a completely blank installation.

What exactly does installing JetBackup WP do?

Essentially, the JetBackup WP Plugin allows
- Scheduling, creating, or restoring backups to or from their configured destinations - a list is available here: https://docs.jetbackup.com/wordpress/jbwp/destinations/overview/
- Restore for backups already generated in JetBackup 5. This requires that the "JetBackup Server integration" is enabled in JBWP Settings, AND the hosting provider has "Can Access Socket API" permission enabled on the JetBackup 5 side.

- Users CAN store, schedule, or generate backups for the type they configure in "JBWP > Destinations". A "Local" destination is configured by default for convenience and will store backups within their home directory.
- Users CANNOT store, schedule, or otherwise generate backups in any JetBackup 5 destinations. Even if you have "Backup on Demand" configured in JB5, the user cannot generate a JB5 backup via WordPress, it must be queued through the JetBackup 5 end-user UI.

Will this feature showcase force install on all WordPress sites?

No! The "Mass Deploy on All WordPress Sites" setting is DISABLED by default. You must either select "Yes" manually, or click the "Mass deploy on all sites now" if you've already proceeded past the Feature Showcase screen.

If you leave the New Installation Hooks vendors ENABLED, JetBackup WP will only install on new WordPress sites, which are normally a "blank slate". You can disable the new installation hooks by unchecking each option, or use the command noted above to leave all options OFF.

Where will the JBWP user be storing backups? Will they be able to schedule backups?

The user can only store backups on their configured destinations within JetBackup for WordPress. There is NO ability for JBWP users to create backups within JetBackup 5 - the integration allows restore only.

A list of destinations they can configure is available here: https://docs.jetbackup.com/wordpress/jbwp/destinations/overview/

However, given that WordPress admins normally generate backups when making major changes to their site, it's very likely that with the JetBackup 5 integration enabled, there may be no need to schedule further backups.
