Excessive IOwait during backup execution on CloudLinux OS

We have received some reports of IOwait increasing considerably during the execution of daily backups on CloudLinux systems, and the server is halted. This is an issue with the CloudLinux Kernel and can be tracked with case CLKRN-1538 at CloudLinux.

This issue may occur in these conditions:

  • CloudLinux OS
  • Kernel < 4.18.0-513.18.1.lve.el8

If the CloudLinux kernel is outdated, please try the solution here: https://cloudlinux.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/13280074697116-Jetbackup-higher-than-normal-IOwait-during-execution-of-backups

Updating to the latest CloudLinux release, to be able to install the latest kernel

rpm -Uhv https://repo.cloudlinux.com/cloudlinux/8/cloudlinux-release-latest-8.rpm
